Sanchez transfer = embarrassment.

Smalling transfer = embarrassment.

Every transfer we're involved with = embarrassment

Hhhmmmm.....

They’ve known the price for the last year and presumably are trying to haggle, we may be ran by jokers but not sure why we’re at fault here.

This.

Other clubs set valuations so why can't we?

Don't disagree, if that's what's gone on.

We get the shitty end of every stick in the transfer market, always.

Other fans reading this would fume. We spent years cherry picking the best players from other clubs

I was talking the last 10 years tbf Since Roman rocked up at Chelsea and then the Glazer's at OT, in fact, our existence in the transfer market has been one long £#%&!ing frustration with occasional moments of sunshine.

Yep.

20m for Smalling is a very fair price, just Italian clubs being tight arses again.

Imo the difference is, is that we have a player we want to sell from a bloated squad and who wants to leave to play first team football, and a team that's willing to buy him, but we're kicking off at not getting offered our asking price.

At the same time we're trying to buy players that are already playing first team football from clubs that don't really want/need to sell, while offering less than asking price.

I get that we don't want to be screwed over, but at what point does not getting business done in less than ideal circumstances cause more issues than spending a few more /losing out on a few million quid.

They're the only cub in for him (Smalling), both parties know this so I guess United are trying to get more ££ (as they're desperate) and Roma may think they can pay a bit less?

That said I thought United had set the fee at £16million which Roma are (now) reportedly happy to pay albeit £13million up front and the rest add ons? Given our preference in forcing deals through like this which £#%&!s selling clubs off (see Dortmund) I have no sympathy for United if this is what's upsetting them.

Player wants to leave, has made it clear to all and sundry, and reportedly Ole has given a move his blessing. Just get it £#%&!ing done.

It may not a simple as that though.

Are Roma willing to pay him what United are, is Smalling willing to take a pay cut or are United expected to pay the difference between the two contracts or a negotiated settlement.

Smalling is also due a testimonial, is he willing to forego that or does he expect compensating by United.

Think the testimonial is the deal breaker imo
