yeah I thought so too. I actually thought his comments on this summer and its relation to the Heinze transfer were the most interesting though.

Nice maneouvre though- sell them a player they didn't really want and hold onto the player they were really after.

Quote:
But were you not more disappointed by all that vaudeville from Real? “It was different for me because I knew it was coming,” Ferguson says. “So I wasn’t surprised.

“When we sold Gabriel Heinze to Real Madrid [the previous summer], we knew it was going to happen, because Ronaldo was very close to Heinze. I knew what they were doing. I don’t believe they were interested in Heinze – good player though he is. The endgame was to get Ronaldo.

Love this bit :-

Was Kenyon’s departure, and the knowledge of the inner workings of United that he took with him to Stamford Bridge, not a hammer blow, though? “No. Definitely not. Peter Kenyon? He wasn’t a loss,” Ferguson says.

Great article. Reading that though, is he hinting that Mouriniho is the best contender for next manager?

It's always puzzled me, that. When Kenyon left some in the media actually talked of it as if he was a star centre-forward or something. He's just another suit, easily replaced. Shows you how much the game revolves around money now I suppose, that suits are given medals and spoken of like players.

Oh absolutely, I hear "formidable" and his name is the only thing that pops into my head.

He wasn't just another suit who could be replaced, he was totally inept. Getting rid of him was a huge positive.

The stark dichotomy of football, then and now...

Quote:
One of the defining moments of the night was the sight of Kenyon, a self-proclaimed lifelong United fan who defected to Chelsea in 2004, slipping a runners-up medal over the jacket of his designer suit while Charlton, when he was offered a winners’ medal, declined to wear it.
£#%&! off Kenyon.

Great read that, thanks for posting

Love the way Fergie can recall a story like the one about Stein and the miners. It's episodes like this that formed his character. In many ways he's the last of his type we'll ever see. Can you imagine in 20 years a manager being interviewed and saying, "Yes, well back when I was working as a shipbuilder..."
