Seriously though we need genuine leaders this summer.
We need good players with everything to prove, they'll grow into leaders if they have the right mentality, buying leaders is nigh on impossible and/or outrageously expensive.

We have to make the superstars and leaders to re-build the side. We can't buy them.

It's a fool's errand, most great sides have leaders that have either grown into that role at the club, or on rarer occasions, are in the final years of their careers. You can't just go and buy them in their prime.

Never really got how you can even do due diligence on character before you sign a player. Unless the buying manager knows someone who knows the player you can only judge character properly when it is in your presence.

I'm sure he has ideas about how he wants his team to play, so identifying targets should be easy if we have a decent scouting network as we're told is now the case. We need to get back to having a quality, balanced squad that gives us hope regardless of who the manager is.
Was pondering the other night. As absolutely horrendous as it was watching LVG, it was the last extended period of time where we had an identifiable style of play bar Ole’s amazing start here.

Yeah maybe.

They’re out there though, Just look at the impact Van Dijk has had.

We can’t just have a squad full of promising players, we need one or two with genuine leadership too. Scouts should be able to find them tbf

Possibly players that have been captain of their clubs or national sides, Showed leadership qualities coming up through the youth ranks,
Whether Instagram is more important to them than actually playing football.

We would've had a midfielder at least, and it was purely because he was available on loan...

It's almost like a good scouting system with an extensive knowledge of the football world would be a good thing to have.

Agreed. United were good at identifying promising players and then developing them. It's likely the case the Glazers stripped back on infrastructure spending that brings in those players or the club is jusr too inept to get it right.

We've been a disaster in the transfer market for years. No finer example than Sanchez.

'Fun fact: Adam Johnson has more premier league assists in the last six seasons than Jesse Lingard. And Johnson has been in prison for three of them

Start by getting this little goblin out of our best 11.

Never been good enough, survived only this long because of our merry go round of managers and the fact he's from our youth team.

I also think he's a symptom of the state of our dressing room. Blatantly gets games simply because he's popular among the players, as if there's a fear that if he isn't included they'll be unhappy. Shouldn't be about that, should be based first and foremost on what you contribute on the pitch. He's shite and can't wait for him to be gone.

How many games, and minutes played, did those assists come in?

But how much space did Johnson make for others during that time?
