Rashford has 100 already.

It's a good job he's better than Duncan Edwards.
remember when he first started and he marauded through the midfield and we thought we had found the second coming

A month ago I swear there were some quotes attributed to Jones where he suggested he might have to go elsewhere, now this.

So in terms of planning for next season, and needing to sort out the defence and midfield, United will have - even if Rojo £#%&!s off - 4 centre backs and the young lad returning from Villa. New (and very much needed) CB? Doesn't seem likely.

Young's new deal next. Hoo-£#%&!ing-ray.

Hopefully ... but can’t see anyone paying 25m this oaf.

Posted months ago about him being not far off a testimonial and averaging less than 20 games per season and now this. £#%&!ing woowoo been doing all the deals for years. Hence arrivals like Fred but no manager gives him a start.

I can.

There's no shortage of takers when we sell players like him.

Evans, Phil Neville etc were snapped up and became pivotal to their side.

He's 26 and has a wealth of experience.

He's not a bad player. In fact, when he's fit and gets a run of games, he's very good.... he just can't stay fit and has never been quite the required level or reliable enough to be first choice.

At 26 and 8 years at the club, he shouldn't be playing second choice.

But he is.

You’re probably right, in there actually being takers for him but he makes Darren Anderson look like Kevin Moran. In more decades than I care to count watching United, I cannot recall such a sustained waste of a squad number. There’s always a blunder in him even when he’s fit, never mind his injury history. The £#%&!er will probably get a testimonial and not be fit to turn out for it. £#%&!ing disaster of a player.

I've always hated this kind of attitude towards squad players. It's such a short sighted, stupid view.

If we had dumped John O'Shea when people wanted we would've lost out on a lot of titles. Doesn't mean he's a brilliant defender and a first team starter. Just a valuable squad member.

Jones is the same.

John O'Shea, Nicky Butt, Phil Neville and the like were squad players who were clearly squad players to obviously better first choice options.

It isn't the Fergie halcyon era anymore.

Phil Jones is often pegged as our best 'natural' defender and any time he manages to string two good games together without falling down a man hole or dropping a piano on himself, we have to have the same conversation about it being his time to shine and stepping up etc.

If he was signing on as just a squad player, then fine, but he isn't. He'll miss 2/3 of season and make us wonder what might have been until he finally returns to tie his shoelace on a landmine plunger.

Really? We dumped Ruud, Beckham, Keane etc and lost umpteen top players yet carried on winning titles. He wasn’t exactly Maldini but neither was O’Shea a blundering oaf who was always injured. Not an attitude to squad players at all but a reaction to this waste of space taking up a squad number and a wage that could be given to somebody useful.

He's a great last ditch defender. A lot like Henning Berg but less cultured. Phil Jones would put his head in front of a swinging boot if it meant stopping a goal.

He would.

He's a decent player. We've had far worse

He just isn't good enough to be first choice and can't stay fit enough to be reliable back up.

And at 26, he shouldn't be. He would be an excellent first choice defender at a midtable club.

8 years at the club and now another 5. £#%&!ing insane. We stand around watching decent players going to clubs who don’t have a fraction of the pull that we have

Below average player who plays 1 in 3 games and guaranteed to £#%&! up more than any other defender. Thought we might’ve turned a corner but with that £#%&!ing podgy faced puppet of the gimps in charge...

If Ole turns out to be what we need, first of all I’ll be amazed if these idiots even notice.. and if they do, it’ll be despite their cluelessness.

Wellin’ up here, tbh.

Are we putting his lack of progress/regression just down to his injuries?

He looked very impressive when he first started with us, quite assertive with bringing the ball out from the back ... now it's hard to say what he's good at bar being brave

The discovery of his left foot at the weekend is a cause for new optimism.

Freggle rotated him to death. That £#%&!ing midfield nonsense, instead of letting him develop his craft at centre half and actually have midfielders

O'Shea was a youth product and a club man, born to be a Swiss Army knife of a player. Jones was big money for the time and meant to be a specialist, not another utility.
