Apparently (The Athletic) the release clause is a lot higher than what’s been reported in the British press (woody briefing to save face?) and can only be activated near the end of his contract.

cant see anything other than this being a missed opportunity. given the state of the club right now, i think it was worth doing what was needed to get him in

i know everyone talks about deals not really getting done till the last day, but it always feels like a wasted month where a difference is made.

Line up one or two top signings for Jan 1, and be prepared to shell out to make them happen then perform during Jan while everyone else fights for the scraps

will be suprised if we get any forwards in the month at all.

Should have given him, his crippled old man and parasite of an agent everything they wanted..

Even if it did turn out to only be for a few years.

Dortmund should enjoy him while they have him. He'll be at Bayern soon.

He could do better than Bayern perhaps. Barca, Madrid and we also have to recognise that now £#%&!ing Liverpool is probably a step up from Bayern

£#%&!ing albino @#%&!.

let's say that's true for the sake of the discussion. he would have improved our team and we have some very decent players. we just need a handful more and by the time his buy-out kicked in, he might actually see united as the place to be.

but, even if he left after a few years, we would be much better than we are likely to be without him. if we had got haaland and fernandes at the beginning of the window, we'd be in fourth place and in a cup final.
