Default Re: Michael Owen

He offers absolutely nothing outside the area and ,with his clear lack of confidence, very little in it.
It's like playing with 10 men in any build up play.

He's not getting enough game time - he can only be judged on that TBF...

Fergoz should have played him from the start last night though.

He looked tired after 70 minutes on Saturday, last night he looked tired and came on as a sub!

He should be nowhere near our starting 11 simply because he does nothing, when he comes on he dont enforce himself on the game and generally relies on the same chances every week. 2 goals in the league this year, hasn't scored in the league since the City game.

Berba get slated for his lack of goals but he offers in other areas of his game.

Not sure yet about Macheda personally, there's promise but he's still pretty raw. Welbeck on the other hand already has two goals this season in probably no more than a third of Owen's playing time.

we have just lost the worlds best player, we shouldn't be taking gambles.

we should be buying quality players who add something to the team, not past it strikers who just look off the pace.any top flight striker would have the goals owen has...

people saying so and so 'aint united quality...' .and this wasteman is???
him being 'free' shouldn't be some sort of justification,we just sold ronaldo for £80m upfront and didn't buy tevez...

fergie says he can't see value in the market well owen at free isn't good value at all. especially when you factor in the fact wellbeck or macheda could be getting his playing time...

remember the days when our big guns on the bench were rooney, ronaldo, saha aka 'the calvery'
yesterday the camera focused on owen as walked onto the pitch for the 2nd half to sit on the bench...
'will united need to call upon own'

jesus wept

Michael Owen is a shit footballer, who, if given 6-8 starts on the spin finds an edge, scores 8 in 10, then gets injured.

The rest of the time he offers great runs, shit finishing, and a general inability to play football.

I'll happily take his City contribution as his part in the season, I strongly suspect he'll score more & possibly the odd important goal, but in the grand scheme of things, when it really matters & you think about it, it's Michael £#%&!ing Owen in a United shirt & he's a @#%&!. £#%&! him in the ear.

Here's some stats for Owen:

Games: 11 subs / 7 starts
Minutes: 658
Goals: 4 (2 x League, 1 x CL, 1 x League Cup)

Goals to Minutes Ratio:

Premier League - 1 goal every 166 mins
Champions League - 1 goal every 179 mins
League Cup - 1 goal every 132 mins

His two league goals have come when he started on the bench, while in cup comps his goals have come from starting positions.

Arsed, he just comes on wobbles about getting in the way. A pass finds him in a good position and he slices it wide, passes it to the keeper or one time out of 6 scores.
All the signing of him has done has delayed the progress of Kiko and Wellbeck for no gain whatsoever.

you just don't see him scoring.

top away game and we are struggling...i have no faith in owen coming on and changing things.

he came on yesterday and erm...did he come on??

this was always going to happen when fergie failed the squad and didn't sign a goalscorer to replace ronaldo.
rooney as good as he is,is our most consistent goal scorer, that's the worrying thing as rooney isn't a 'goalscorer'

our lack of a goal scorer will haunt us if time is not taken.
when was the last time any of our strikers scored a goal??

came on and saved us against arsenal away a few years back.

played the return pass to help smith score that goal when we beat arsenal and stopped the 50 unbeaten.

the point of the matter is, we had a striker who could get goals and was of a good standard (I.e could start games at other clubs)

owen isn't good enough to start games for any teams in the premiership ffs.
