I could have done it on paper. Right degree and health but unfortunately my personality wouldn't suit.

In space nobody can hear you flounce.

I'm too tall so the rest of the criteria are irrelevant.

Too old.
Too tall.
Can't speak anything of a foreign language except for a few swearwords.
Fail 2 of the 3 health criteria.
My degree is only a Bachelors degree.


So, where do I sign?

Case in point: On Friday, March 27, astronaut Scott Kelly and cosmonauts Gennady Padalka and Mikhail Kornienko launched at 3:42 pm but were crammed inside of their Soyuz spacecraft for another 6 hours. They didn't dock with the ISS until 9:36 pm that evening....

God, hope they are ok......

Like a flight to Madeira....

I've got 2 degrees but they're in social sciences not real science.

I can speak a fair bit of German but I'm not fluent. If I asked for a satellite I might get a sausage.

I never realised but in the take-off phase they have to be prepared to abort (not like that silly) at any stage so they could come down over so many types of terrain. They have to do survival training over many types of land/water and so as the take off progresses, they are adjusting their escape plan.
