Hart might also have been acceptable as our third choice keeper at a push, I suppose. He's still an absolute thundercunt, though

Andy Gray on Burnley’s goalkeeper situation on beINSPORTS: “You’ve got Tom Heaton – a young man. Nick Pope – a young man. You’ve got Joe Hart, who’s what – 35 plus?

“So you have to make a decision, don’t you? What do you do – do you keep one of your young starlets who’s got plenty years ahead of him or do you cash in on both of them and earn your club…”

Joe Hart is 31.

Tom Heaton is 32.

Nick Pope is injured.

Manchester City dedicate training pitch to Joe Hart

Joe Hart has had a pitch at Manchester City's training ground dedicated to him in recognition of his 12-year spell with the club. He played a key role in helping the club win their first Premier League title in dramatic fashion in the 2011/12 season after they pipped rivals Manchester United to the title.

The dedication, which included the unveiling of a mosaic of Hart celebrating the club's 2012 title victory made by local artist and Manchester City fan, was made by fellow former goalkeeper Alex Williams and club ambassador Mike Summerbee.

"It is truly fitting to mark Joe Hart's outstanding contribution to Manchester City in such a visible way," said Manchester City chairman, Khaldoon Al Mubarak.

"During his 12 years with the club, Joe not only produced some incredible individual displays, but also celebrated great success as a member of the club's most decorated team in decades.

"His Manchester City legacy is assured and it is hoped that this tribute will serve to inspire future generations of goalkeepers who train at the City Football Academy dreaming of replicating his remarkable career."

Hart described the dedication as a "huge honour" as he prepares to face his former club at the Etihad on Saturday with Burnley.

"Having the goalkeeping pitch at the City Football Academy dedicated to me is a huge honour," said Hart.

Bert Trautmann (1949-1964)

The legendary former German prisoner of war won City hearts and minds over when he remained in England after World War 2 but still had to win the respect of the nation. His early years were difficult with protests and jeers wherever he played, but he quickly earned the respect of the Maine Road crowd and became a popular figure.

His paratrooper training made him agile and brave and he took those attributes into football with him, achieving legendary status when he remained on the pitch for the final 20 minutes or so of the 1956 FA Cup final after breaking his neck. His career spanned 15 years and he made 545 appearances during that time.
