It’s midfield we desperately need improving in
Replacement for Matic and a creative attacking midfielder

We’ll also need a forward replacement for Lukaku when he leaves

Don’t know why we’re wasting so much time on Maguire
Wish we’d look further afield than the British Isles
Bailly. Darmian.

Need I go on?

Good to know. 6 months and they've beaten the ambition out of him.
Fergie operated within the restrictions imposed upon him.

It's awful, but all you get otherwise is Mourinho's tenure.

Agreed. Midfield was weak even before we lost Herrera, who despite being a bit average was often a starter. With good coaching the defence may hold up okay. That midfield group will cost us unless The Scottish Player and Garner really thrive.

Yes, you're right. What we've got here is another Fergie.

Would help if the senior players also stepped up. I.E. Pogba, Matic and Fred.

Managers nearly always say "I would be happy if we don't sign anybody else", and a lot of times they *do* end up signing somebody else.

I'm not reading anything into it at this stage.

Exactly.

Unless it's Mourinho, who tells us how shite our season is going to be.

He's bigging up his players. All standard stuff. I'll be surprised if there isn't at least one more in.

Sorry, can't agree with what you are claiming here.

He does appear to be more of a canny operator than Mourinho though.

Of course, but even if they do that's a thin midfield group. Also would be ambitious to expect it of all three, especially Matic.

If they somehow manage to bring in Fernandes, Longstaff, Pepe and Maguire, I’d be absolutely over the moon.

Surely don't have the budget for all that?

That's a summer spend of £250-£300m.

Honestly don’t think they’ll buy anyone else tbh

Need to sell a few..

Apparently so far we’ve spent exactly what we spent last summer

Its going to take a few windows to get what we need, but £#%&! me, it will take a hell of a lot more with a £70m summer budget.

If they bin off 3 or 4 it may offset somewhat, plus they’ll all be on the never never anyway...

Lukaku
Darmian
Rojo
Sanchez

Should all be out the door by hook or by crook this summer.

The lack of outgoings has bothered me more than the players coming in.

Rojo, Darmian and Sanchez should all be gone. Lukaku will go.

I wouldn't expect much from Garner this season. Still a child really at that age in the middle of the pitch.
