I remember Ryan Giggs going through a phase circa 1994 where he didn't celebrate. All Cool and moody.

It could be anything. He celebrated the lingard goal with lingard.

It means nothing.
Aside from it a being a bit tedious, it suggests he’s getting too emotional about it and over-thinking things. Which isn’t great for a striker and is something you get the sense he’s prone to doing. If you’re going to go in for the self-indulgent celebrations, I’d prefer a shush gesture or a cupping of the ears, personally.

Seems like a big soft arse tbf.

You’ll care next time he’s too emotional to show up in a big game

Goal = celebration.

First bit matters. Second doesn't.

His mental state matters hugely. Being a soft arse isn’t good for a striker.

You're the one drawing conclusions about his mental state based on standing still after scoring a goal.

Any celebration is some kind of emotional reaction. It's an emotional moment. How you've decided it means he's soft, I'm not sure.

I would argue that not being able to control a football is more of a concern.

Being a mardy arse is all right. Andy Cole could get cranky. Some said he was a bit soft too, but they were @#%&!s.

Or Sparky (not that one).

I'm not big Rom's biggest fan but don't read much into this shit. The derby game stuff worries me more.

Too emotional. As Shearer said the other night, you’re a goal scorer - move on ffs. There will be chances to put the derby game right.

The last thing I need to see from a striker often perceived to be a bit soft is him being a bit soft.

Time for him to move on?

He’s scored in each match since

The whole point of the thread

The thread was about Mourinhos weird defence of Rom. Normally Jose simply waves away silly questions but he went to great lengths to make up some ludicrous excuse that the goal was too early in the game against Bournemouth [ a team he never played for] to celebrate & that he played for WBA [ albeit on loan ] . He did play for Everton however & he certainly did celebrate his goal against them, even though it as a late icing on the cake goal.

Weird that this thread about our striker clearly having an issue is pointless yet some French winger who doesn't play for us & probably never will putting boot polish on his face is far more relevant

Everton had been booing him, West Brom certainly hadn't.
