United's Number 9

With the Tigre moving on after a truly glorious career in the red shirt, United seem to be on the lookout for a new superstar number 9 to capture the hearts and minds of the Red Army hordes.

Numerous, continuous, persistent links with a number of strikers already this summer, including Jackson Martinez, Harry Kane, Karim Benzema, Edinson Cavani, Higuaín and Christian Benteke among others.

A simple poll to follow; who do you want as our next goal machine?

Big Benz out of the ones above but I'd have Lacazette or Felipe Anderson over the lot of them

Benzema by a £#%&!ing mile. Not that it'll happen though. Utd wouldn't want to upset Madrid

Can't say any of them particularly fill me with joy tbh. Wilson in a few years maybe. Lacazette and Kane are a bit one season wonder atm. Not going to advocate the signing of anyone of Madrid's established stars tbh, Martinez, Mandzukic, Higuain and Cavani meh. Benteke not a bad shout as a back up to Rooney. Proper dearth of strikers out there atm

Whats worse?

Rooney in a no 9 with not much competition

or

Rooney in midfield/Rooney on left wing/Rooney in the 'hole'

The latter option looks disastrous to me.

Is Lewandowski a realistic option though? No. Not a chance. Same as Muller. Might as well say Aguero, Costa, Suarez, Messi etc.

Vietto I've not seen enough of to comment tbh, but would he not fit into the same bracket as Lacazette and Kane?

but unlike the latter 2 vietto wouldn't cost you 40-50m. Anyway discussion is futile since he is joining atletico madrid for 20m where he will be a hit and be touted for 40-50m next year (like griezmann)
