Thumbs up Athletic Bilbao

old stadium / new stadium

sad when I heard Athletic's San Mames was going to be knocked down.

Loved reading about it in Simon Inglis's Football Grounds of Europe book ..a proper tight football ground that oozed character ..but, I have to say I'm heartened by the pics of the new San Mames Barria - seriously impressive shoe-horning, ..and you can't beat a decent bit of shoe-horning !!

Fair play they've managed to squeeze that new stadium in pretty well but are they going to have to play games with 1 stand missing till the other is built or knock one of the stands down on the old stadium to build the stand in the new ground? so either way their going to have to play in a stadium with 1 stand missing at some point

For some reason we flew from Heathrow with vueling but I'm sure that EasyJet go from ringway!

Great town, we left at half time and the place was Alive. People spilling out of every bar treating it like a cup final, great scenes.

It's not racist as it's a statement on the current climate in Spain.

There's a £#%&!load of half finished building sites because the developers ran out of money.

Thumbs up

Terrific old ground, great club. Was gutted I couldn’t make our game out there in 2012. A phenomenal atmosphere that night, according to those who went.

Yet one of their corrupt @#%&! clubs is about to splash £100m+ on one player.

An utterly criminal state of affairs. :shakehead:

Saw Sid Lowe retweeted someone this morning "historic clubs are going to the wall for want of 5 million euros, and one player costs 145 million. It's the apocalypse." Hard to argue with that really
