But it's hard to overstate the significance of losing so many 'captains'.

Major issue at the moment still of leadership. You hope Schweini will help with that. Smalling still growing in that regard, too.
Nani doesn't have anything even resembling the mentality to be a Van Gaal player. Agree on Welbeck and Kagawa, though; thought they'd both fit the profile quite well. I'd have been very surprised if you'd told me before last summer that he'd prefer Falcao and Mata to those two.

Last summers transfers were a bit shit, granted, but I think there was a huge case of rush and panic, this year has been much more measured, and I really don't think Martial is any more of a panic buy, fee aside, than Rooney was or Ronaldo tbh. They've obviously been watching him for a while and wanted him, decided to get him before others moved
Spot on. He's wrong either way with the media and most of the #@&%!s on here who slag him off. Last year he was a #@&%! for buying 'worldies' () and for us not promoting youth, despite the fact we used more youth team players since the 92 lads broke through. This season he's a #@&%! because he's buying 'nobodies'. All in all 90% of United 'fans' don't deserve United, or Louis.

You'd have to do a horrific job not to have moved the club forwards after almost £300m spent in 12 months tbf.
