The most stylish and charismatic player I've ever seen.

the catalyst for our early success and the United icon of that era.

My favourite United player by a country £#%&!ing mile.

Eric is United.

Everything we became in the 90s was a reflection of him. Swaggering, stylish and brutal.

Yes, staying at Sheffield Wednesday looks even more the correct decision in historical retrospect

I remember thinking he was style over substance when he was at leeds. "That flicky @#%&!" I think was the phrase I used.

Would have loved to have seen a season of him and Shearer together.

By 96/97 he was porking up quite noticeably and as gutted as I was that he called it a day it was probably good timing.

He would have lamped Shearer. Still don't get people that pine for Shearer, before he went Blackburn maybe but then we probably wouldn't even have got Eric. Would have won one more league and never won the treble if we got him. He was a dinosaur; magnificent but perfectly suited to his surroundings. Andy Cole > Alan Shearer and he didn't take Penalities and Free Kicks.

I can understand people wanting shearer......but not at the expense of what we actual got. Get him in 92 and there'd be no Eric. Get him in 96 and there'd be no Sheringham and probably no Dwight Yorke. I would not swap the contributions and moments they created for anything shearer might have potentially brought us.

I remember the day. Our neighbour the tedious Leeds supporter called over to the house. Me and the old man have him stick and he was rattled. I knew then it was a big deal.

Remember being in the Algarve in 94 and this kid sang "ooh aah Cantona... he looks like a woman and he wears a bra" - always stuck with me that.

That interview too... fergie being quite humble. I remember the tv crews went into Dion Dublins hospital ward to interview him when he broke his leg too

Ironically, neither of those statements turned out to be true.
