Football David Herd

[SIZE="4"]David Herd

I did this video compilation to highlight what a great striker David Herd was in the 1960s

He is often forgotten about when discussing that great Utd forward line of the 1960s however he wasn't that far behind the likes of Law in terms of his importance to side with his prolific goal scoring and good hold up play

Although he was born in Scotland, he grew up in Manchester and after signing from Arsenal went on to score 145 goals in 264 games and formed a lethal partnership with Denis Law
Sadly his Utd career was cut short after suffering a broken leg in a game against Leicester near the end of the 1966-67 season. He hardly played for the club again

Herd wasn't just old fashioned goal poacher as he also possessed the hardest shot in English football in the 1960s which allowed him to score from long distance as well

A top player and a top man by all accounts

some of the defending and goalkeeping on view in that video It looks like a compilation of poor goalkeeping and defending.

Shame he was right at his peak when he broke his leg at home in a brilliant 5-2 team win vs Leicester at OT. Was never the same again. Actually knew Herdy and his son Alec. Both modest down to earth guys.
