And Eto'o in Rome.

And falling over for Lampard's in Moscow.

VdS had a shocker across the three finals, but will forever have the save that won the trophy

Hughes, the Danish keeper, Kidd etc all played to the bertie gallery.

In order of @#%&!ishness it's

1/ Kidd (by a million miles)
2/ Hughes
3/ Schmeichel

Harsh. Deflection played him in on goal, VDS guessed near post and Lampard shot across him. Probably a goal even if he'd had stayed up.

Also made a very critical excellent save later in that game to prevent a Rio own goal.

debatable really.

VDS would have struggled 1992-2000
PBS would have struggled 2000-2009

When I say struggled, I mean 'not been as effective'

and most mportantly, IMO.

Because of their ages at the respective times? Experience? Haircuts? I dunno what your criteria are. But the Dane was a better goalie than the Dutchman. imnsho

Maybe, but he might have closed the shot down quicker? He slipped in the second half too on an Essien shot which luckily was off target.

I also recall him clattering into the back of one of our defenders when they nearly scored. And I thought he should have done better with the Lampard and Cole penalties. Honestly, I think it might have been his worst big game, but his best ever moment at the end

Schmeichel would have saved the Eto'o goal in Rome IMO.

Absolutely adore Edwin though. Probably not as good a 'keeper as the Great Dane, but a better representative of Manchester United who just oozes class.

Schmeichel is an awful television pundit, FWiW; chats endless shit. Happy belated birthday @#%&!o. Best 'keeper I've ever seen, tbf.

Remember in live time thinking he wasn't doing well enough with them, but I dunno if that was just the occasion

So would VDS on most occasions. It was a mistake. Schmeichel made plenty.

I can see that. They weren't brilliant penalties.
