We know enough about The Scottish Player now for the jury to be back in; the question is, do we settle for mediocrity or try to find the next big star, because doing so takes balls (no-one mentioned anything about throwing them willy nilly into multiple "big games" btw - just a proper shot), but isn't our entire history based on giving youth a try?
But right now we would have to throw them in to multiple big games, that's the issue. It's not just a spot in the squad to play when it suits us, come off the bench in good circumstances, learn from Casemiro in training, its a spot in the squad to play when the starter gets injured (Eriksen) or a 4 game ban (Casemiro). If they are going to be in the squad, in place of The Scottish Player, they need to be able to step up when required, I have seen little if anything from our current crop of youth midfielders to suggest they are able. The Scottish Player is awful, putting in a young player thats not ready coulod be reckless to the team or that players career.

Your point about Scholes and Carrick does quite make sense to me, they didn't become who they became because they got a decent crack, they got a decent crack because they showed they had the ability, temperament and maturity to be afforded the opportunities.

Pathetically weak Spanish side in giving away a pathetically weak goal shocker.

Spain with 71% possession fair play to him but Jesus they’re all (boring) style with no substance whatsoever.

I'd prefer The Scottish Player if we're going to play a donkey up front. He's a failed striker too but he's not as old.

Bang on. Still clinging onto the way they played over a decade ago - except now they don’t have Iniesta, Xavi, Pique, Puyol etc.
