Yes I think so. I’d heard he was at the 4-3 game against Madrid (Ronaldo hat trick) and that was when he became serious about buying a PL club.

Rumour was it was United first, then Spurs and eventually Chelsea was the best option for him.

IIRC he got the 'bug' watching United vs Madrid but was then going to buy Spurs. However when flying round London he went over Chelsea and decided to buy them instead - not sure how true.

Also not leaving them in debt, which is nice for them.
