I was 11, one of my mates dads rang up to see if I wanted to go to the United Wrexham Fa Cup game that weekend as they had a spare, so I did. He then preceeded to tell us Cantona wouldn't be playing.

Incidentally that Wrexham game was Phil Neville's debut. Got Kanchelskis to sign the poster of him in the program as we were near the dugout. Was a moody git.

Watched it on sportsnight or what we the mid week bbc show was called. Could even had been sportscene as was living in Glasgow at the time. Had resisted finding out live score so I could watch it, so had no idea what had happened. Presenter was all gloomy before but at leat didn’t give the fame away. Stupendous stuff.
