If you actually look back, the style of play was only really good when Queiroz was here, as Fergie played second fiddle to the Portuguese, especially with Ronaldo at United. Fergie probably planned to play Ronaldo at left-back until Queiroz taught him how to utilise his strengths. If you think about it, old whiskey nose was clueless to Ronaldo's ability when it was staring him straight in the face during that game against Sporting; it was the players who had to tell him to sign Ronnie. "C'mon boss he's really good, honest".

Before Ronaldo we dominated with the '99 team, but that was a side that fell into Fergie's lap with Beckam, Scholes, Butt, the Nevilles etc all coming through the youth system. He basically hit the lottery with those players. If anything, Kidd and McLaren should have statues outside Old Trafford just for standing up to Fergie's stubbornness. A new 'Trinity' of Kidd, McLaren and Queiroz would have been good, but the truth has been swept under the carpet, largely because Fergie panders to the owners.

Ferguson has also got comfortable in recent years and with Phelan he's got the perfect patsy - it's like having Mr Burns and Smithers in charge of United, and we're seeing the results of nobody challenging authority.
I prefer new antiques

great statement to make when we're nine points clear and heading into a knock out with Real Madrid.

i read that saf is only responsible for picking the team, signing players and shouting at them before k/o and at h/t.

judging by the tombola line ups, awful signings by majority and a team that lacks concentration, it could be argued that he phones in what little he has to do, but it's not my place to comment.
