He's a defensive midfielder. Not a goal threat. Stats are up with Kante and Ndidi. He's quality.

Will have 18 months left on his contract in January as well, just like Youri Tielemans. Expect they'll both move on next Summer.

Nobody went for him because he might be a one season flash in the pan.

If he performs to the same level, and improves, this season there will be a queue.

You'd have thought a professional footballer could have screamed "youllnevertakemealiiiive" and parkoured to freedom over the houses

What are they in for?

Crimes against football aren't a prison offence. Unfortunately.

watched liverpool v brighton yesterday (well, watched it today, but... whatever).

I know he's not 100% fit, but.... whilst I like him.... we would still need some energy and enthusiastic tackling next to him. it would be like replacing fred with a much better fred, rather than the sort of player we really need.

the odd lazy pass to the nearest opposition player, plenty of jogging around without imposing himself... not really sure about his positional sense or his willingness to engage. however, so much more confidence on the ball than fred and doesn't just get knocked off it - he moves and he moves the ball. the sort of player you want our ball winnner giving the ball to. seems more like a pogba than a kante, though.

I know the stats have him making loads of tackes, but I don't see him motoring around mopping stuff up. would take him in a heartbeat, but we could not stop the midfield rebuild there. we need another player with him.

brighton had mwepu, who also looks useful, but nothing like the right balance. maybe we need our scouts to work a bit £#%&!ing harder. we could buy two proper players for the price of fred. players with energy and strength.

25 £#%&!ing million. We should be all over that. We’ll likely still be banging on about not being held to ransom in August.
