Arguable. It's a moot point however as Ronaldo obviously isn't coming back but Rooney isn't in the same league ffs.

Where's this £100m fee come from anyway?

He's not even worth the £80m we got for him.

Anyway the player holds all the cards these days, contracts mean £#%&! all (he signed a new one a year before he left us)

you think real madrid are going to let their most profitable asset, main goalscorer and poster boy walk out of there for a penny less than what they paid? Then you sir ,are mental.

Even so, There's no way United could find that sort of money up front. We'd either have to pay in £30m instalments over 3 years or offer some sort of player in a swap. I should imagine they'd take one look at our books and demand van persie. Everyone else they wouldn't want to touch.

He'll have 2 years left on his deal in the summer, he'll be 28 and if HE wants a United move then rather than keep a unhappy player they'll have to cash in if he isn't willing to sign a new deal in the summer and risk losing him for £25/£30m the season after.

He's not worth big money anymore, not only because of his age but the fact he's not at that level he was when we sold him.
