Standard of keeper there is a bit sad.

Has to be a bit special to make it when you're 5' 7" in the modern game, will get bullied to £#%&! in this league but shades of Forlan when he was flying in the finishing there - we'll spend the £17m or whatever & then move him on after a disastrous spell for £1.5m to Real Betis where he'll inevitably break the all time La Liga goals in a season record the year after and be worth £100m. Can't wait.

Last month I was this close to starting a thread on this lad as well as his club manager Marcelo Gallardo. The latter would have been a great option for an interim manager, he is one of the most successful South America managers in history at just 45 and is playing a brand of football light years above the competition. Could have been a perfect prep for a ETH or even for the FT job if able to acclimatise to the Premier League.

Barca had offered him the job which he smartly turned down while Alvarez looks like the real deal but should do another year in Argentina to guarantee playing time ahead of the World Cup.
