“And I waited a split second too long and absolutely topped him, went over the ball, it was a bad tackle — I knew it was a bad tackle and I did it on purpose. I’m not incredibly proud of it. I’m not ashamed of it neither, because in my head it was me or him and I was choosing me. There was a bit of a scuffle after it. I think he got sent in for his reaction; rightly so, because his reaction was probably bang on.

“I finished off the session and he was on crutches for the next two weeks, so it was sort of like, not mission accomplished because I think that’s a bit harsh, I didn’t really want to hurt him, I just needed him out the way for this game. If that meant ruining a relationship I had, I was going to do it. I was desperate to play for Liverpool and that’s all I wanted to do.”

If this is true then i'd have the lad out of the club without a chance to pick up his gear.

Pellistri can definitely play, obvs not comparing them in terms of ability, but he’s a bit like Messi, really quick feet, low centre of gravity, wants to be on the move and moving the ball quickly all the time.
