£45m is a lot of dough for a Jack of all trades when we lack specialists in most places

I believe he’s played most of his football as a CB, considerably more than any other position, 100 games maybe, combined with him being a shortarse and us having 28 CB’s on the books, it’s an odd one.

Martinez is an odd one, as surely he’ll be a first choice cb. Surely that would mean ten hag wants to sell one of maguire or varane.

De ligt wold be a partner for martinez, I’d imagine. Different players. Ten hag tends to want a cb who will cover, and one who will push up onto the attacker. No idea how either play.

Not off topic. We’re in talks to sign a player that plays primarily at CB for £45m, we’re being linked with a move for a CB at £100m. The two are definitely linked.

As I said, I can’t see there being any truth in a link to De Ligt if we’re in talks for Martinez.
