Pretty much the same side as last year with an unknown Spanish commodity and some teenager who likes threesomes.

You then take a look at the Chelsea side or the City and it makes for very depressing viewing.

Given the current injury list I think that Blackett and James will start. Both have impressed me in pre-season and last night they were two of our better players. Hernandez was poor last night and so assuming that RvP is not fit I can see Januzaj starting up front with Rooney.

De Gea

Jones
Smalling
Blackett

Young
Fletcher
Herrera
James

Mata

Januzaj
Rooney

You actually think RvP is going to start against Swansea

He hasn't played a minute of pre-season

I understand what you are saying, but I would rather start with that line-up than a team that includes players who do not play for us.

Won't they just. Imagine if Moyes has stayed and started the season with that team and formation.

There would be arse seeings left right and centre.

People think, because LVG is at the helm, everything will be ok.

Great manager or not, the majority of the players in that team are shite and no amount of coaching will change that.

But they play for United and are not injured. Isn't that the point of this thread?

Yep, this will be the team I reckon, unless we have some rapid recoveries from injury.

Big pressure on the back-five defensively. I think we'll dominate possession, but defensively we will need to be really switched on.

It's a very average looking back-five on paper. Big concern IMO that we seem to be lacking a defensive leader to command the back-line.

Friendlies pals, friendlies.

Do you honestly think we would beat Real Madrid 3-1 in a competitive game.

I admire your blind faith, though.

Possibly not, but I somehow do not think we will be playing Real Madrid in a competitive game this season. I do, however, think that our current squad is enough to compete in the PL. Of course we need world class signings - not once on this thread have I disputed that.
