The absolute £#%&!ing state of our passing

The first thing that stood out there was a certain United players 'little flicks' that rarely if ever come off and just dribble back to an opposition player - and it's always someone else's fault.

Ralf wanting fewer touches in midfield, fewer sideways and backwards passes. Well Ralf's going to need new midfielders for that. Both Fred and The Scottish Player (or Matic ) won't bring about that change. All three at times look petrified to play a forward pass, or can't.

Yep. He’s the problem . This remains the most ridiculous narrative of the season.

So many chances to get in behind that we ignore, and yet we love an aimless punt over the top when it’s NOT on.

Scholes would have found Ronaldo about 4 times with those passes. Unfortunately the likes of Fred don’t have the quality or the vision to pick that pass out. Our central midfield, as ever, is £#%&!ing killing usq

Not just Fred either, The Scottish Player time and again (when his head is up) opts to play safe when other options are on.

Our midfield options, all of them, are dull and utter shite.

Need one or two? Make that three or four.

He’s not the problem but he’s not the solution either.

We’ve skated by with an absolute abomination of a midfield for 5 years, it couldn’t go on forever. The lack of quality has come home to roost with interest this season.

The truly mind bogglingly infuriating thing is that absolutely every one of us has known the midfield is a massive issue the entire time, and the club have done £#%&! all about it.

Yep.

How many at the club have got managers sacked now? Only a handful are worth keeping and building the squad around. Most are not getting any better with any sort of coaching.

Lets be honest given players out of contract next Summer if United had any ambition a few midfielders could be acquired next month for reasonable fees and we'd see an improvement. Marseille's young midfielder, Adams (Leipzig), what's Brozovic up to or the AC Milan lad? Moreover perhaps use Ralf's contacts and knowledge around Europe. Mwepu at Brighton for example looks mustard, how much did he cost (Brighton) from Red Bull Salzburg?

Just hope something happens and players are moved on and new faces brought in. The 1 or 2 line next Summer just won't cut it, years of neglect means a lot of work is needed and quickly.

It’s the ignoring it that bothers me. Some of them aren’t easy balls. The one drifts just over his head first half isn’t easy, but at least it was spotted and attempted at the right time.

Others are just lazy and careless (Sancho second half. rashford on that two man breakaway first half) and these are the basics we shouldn’t be £#%&!ing up so frequently.

he was going with no midfielders for that. dummkopf.

the passing was shit from everyone, incidentally. dalot put a couple of good crosses in. lindelof would have spotted ronaldo's runs. ronaldo isn't as quick as rashford, though.

That’s from halfway through the first half..

The lack of ability to play the ball forward quickly and accurately from defence and midfield is shocking.

Lindelof has, of course, been out of action since the Newcastle game because he has tested positive for COVID, not because of any 'adverse reaction to the vaccine', as confirmed by both the club and player himself.

Victor Lindelof has delivered a message of gratitude to Manchester United supporters, following his positive test for COVID-19.
The Swedish centre-back missed Monday's 1-1 draw with Newcastle United due to the illness, and he will be absent again when Burnley come to Old Trafford on Thursday night as his enforced period of isolation continues.

Interim boss Ralf Rangnick confirmed before kick-off at St James' Park that Lindelof's test had produced a positive result on Sunday, and it led to Raphael Varane returning alongside Harry Maguire at the heart of the Reds' defence.

But this thread is crazy

From over analysing our better players like Bruno, Maguire and Ronaldo to calling Ralf “The German Steve Bruce”.

The guy has been in the job a month, trying to implement a new style, covid hit the squad, players have played under a novice manager for 3 years etc… it’s not going to be a quick fix, Things will get worse before getting better.
Stop trying to be sensible.

So would Keane.

United’s passing has been shit for longer than I can remember. Even during fergie’s latter years, it was often below par.

You’re dam right there JD. One of the best passes I’ve seen, very rarely conceded possession.
