4 + 1 tbf. Still, the point about handing new contracts to obvious dross in order to protect the 'asset' value stands. Absolute false economy, especially on the elevated wages we pay.

Mr P Jones being the prime example.

As impressive as getting Varane and Sancho has been, the lack of departures has been disappointing.

It’s utterly ridiculous that the likes of him and Jones are still here. They’re decent enough to make good careers elsewhere, but this @#%&!tish principle of tying these players down to have re-sale value is backfiring badly and has to stop.

I reckon we’d have at least one more coming in if we’d had three or four out the door. And not loans either. Sold.

Nobody has any money to spend and all are looking to cut costs. Taking players who are on large contracts from big clubs just isn’t happening, unless said players are young up and comers. Sadly the shit we want rid of are not.

Getting Pereira, Lingard, Jones and 1 or 2 others off the books is the difference between a good and potentially great chance of silverware imo, as without strengthening the midfield we’ll suffer eventually.

Jones is staying according to Ole, we’re getting tuppence ha’penny for Pereira and Jesseh is in Limbo. It’s not looking good

Giving Mata and Matic extensions was absurd.

On a slightly different note, Juve managed to get another ridiculous deal; Locatelli on a 2 year loan with an obligation to buy for €35m so that’s Chiesa and Locatelli they’ve managed to get for absolute buttons. Imagine West Ham doing a deal like that for Rice, or Watford for Sarr mental.

We seem to operating in an entirely different market to everyone else, buying or selling.

It’s an Italian thing

They seem to want to keep Italy’s best players in Italy so they do these sweetheart deals

I think the biggest point you’re missing when you make comparisons like this, is that Perreira isn’t really that good of a player. Perreira and many others like him get their mediocrity brushed under the carpet by pure association with United. If they were of any level they’d either be knocking on the door at United or they’d have other teams scrambling for them regardless of whatever contracts they have in place.

United just need to learn when to cut their losses at times but I have no idea about the intricacies involved on the business side of things.

On £30k pw compared to Beanz's £75k. Should be able to punt him out somewhere for that sort of money. Should punt Beanz out from a plane and claim on the insurance.

No one wants him because nobody knows what the £#%&! he does

You’d think France would be the ideal place for him, but nothing. His agent must be shite.

Perhaps these players can see if they hang around they’ll get an even bigger contract, Utd weigh their value against what a replacement would cost not what they could be sold for
