James Ducker is the only UK journalist giving this the time it deserves.

There are at least 2 reasons why the British press isn't covering this: they're terrified of libel laws and football 'journalism' in the UK is just PR.

As to the 1st point: anything published by Der Spiegel is 100% fact-checked and has cast-iron sources, unfortunately none of the spackers in the UK press knows this. As to the 2nd, they're terrified of pissing off Citeh and losing access. This is why sports journalism is dead.

Brennan, and Paul Hayward, are taking some absolute pelters. Be nice to see some of the other so-called top sports writers get their heads out of the sand too

They don’t. But the only crime is being publicly caught, and city and PSG have been publicly caught. So even if the authorities are corrupt, they still have to be seen to do something, and enough of a something to retain confidence in the game and the authorities. Particularly given they have also been exposed as going easy last time. Corruption is nothing without the cover of confidence and credibility.

Pretty sure they’d change their tune if the owners pull out and they go bust as a result. One of the things the FFP rules are designed to do is protect clubs like city.

FFP doesn’t stop clubs investing in infrastructure to grow the club over time and thus maybe challenge the elite. It’s to stop inflating wages and transfer fees in a way that puts pressure on other clubs to stretch their finances to compete. As well as the aforementioned protection of city themselves should they be left high and dry by the owners one day.

A few people on here have said city pay their players under the table. This suggests that might be true:

"For example, the club transferred the marketing rights for its players to an external company. Normally, professional teams have to pay their athletes for the right to use them in club marketing material. But City drummed up buyers for those marketing rights -- an ingenious plan. Suddenly, the club no longer had to pay the marketing fees -- the new buyers did, resulting in spending cuts for Man City."

However, it's not made clear who these fees are paid to. I imagine it's the club -- which would fit with their other scam of their NY and Melbourne clubs paying them for the rights to the City brand -- but it could easily be the players too.

It would make up for the last five years if the gov’t did a proper investigation and their players got banged up for massive tax evasion.

Escape to victory 2. Summerbee could do a reprisal.

But then it wouldn't show in their skewed "income" figures to make it look like they're profitable.

I have little doubt they are - or someone is - paying them more than their club salaries but this will be off the books, image rights is a potential income stream and they need the veneer of plausibility.

Right yeah, that makes sense.

This is also worth reading https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...21641.html?amp

The info from Der Spiegel is a few years old, ^ that proves they're still doing the same things right now.

Yeah, Paul Hince has blown it right open. T. Knott of Droylsden has already burned his season ticket.
