Secondly stop trying to force Falcao and Van Persie as a partnership, do not need 2 poachers on the pitch at the same time, it is one of the main reasons the defenders have had so few short passing options, leading to the hoofing.

Surely there has to be an aesthetic improvement today with all these players back, if he goes back to Fellaini as the main tactic then angry tears may be shed.
Agreed. There's really no excuse for fellaini today and I'd love to see a less bloated defence given he's recently gone on about how keen he is to play attacking football.

If that clogger shows up today then like you say, these worry lines a few of us have re the philosophee will be troubled further.

Bit surprised if Falcao is dropped rather than van Persie tbh after his goal scoring recently. Blind in the back three is interesting if it happens.

Glad he's not playing both Falcao and van Persie
As Tibers said that just doesn't work

Today really is huge.

Win today and it puts is 4 clear of Southampton and Arsenal(assuming they win), and only 7 behind City who we should be aiming to reel in.

On top of that our next 4 fixtures are QPR, Leicester, W.Ham and Burnley, so you would be hoping for maximum points there.

Citys next four are Arsenal, Chelsea, Hull and Stoke.

Need to keep the pressure up today.

A nice easy 4 nil win would be great.

I presume Van Persie will get the nod as he was comfortably the best player on the pitch when we last played Southampton.

Seeing Blind in the back-line is something I mentioned recently, tbhsage. I just don't see both him AND Carrick in midfield together as they are very similar players; however, I thought one of them might drop into defence given Van Gaal's preference for having a ball-player back there.

I think if Carrick and Blind both play then Carrick will play in defence

Not sure. Carrick has a better passing range than Blind, so I think Van Gaal would prefer him in midfield where he can feed the attackers.

Personally, I'd prefer to see a back four of Rafael, Jones, Rojo and Shaw, rather than a back three.

Bigger issue for me is if he plays Herrera or Fellaini.
