Southampton haven't played Chelsea, City, Us, Arsenal or Everton yet. Their run in must be horrendous

& we spent £150m... more than they have spent in their clubs entire history. Scales of economy etc.

We're doing OK, I expect the 2nd half of the season to be a different story, but as it stands, no more than decent.

Come the end of the season I can see a 3rd place finish, hopefully some creative football & I'd love to get the FA Cup back again.

we need to string some wins together. at least we can be optimistic. our start was worse than newcastle's if you consider the fixture list and the spending. it's a joke we're 4th. if we don't get our act together, we could be bottom half after soton. it's not as if being 4th is any kind of achievement.

Until he drops RVP I just can't see it breaking a 7.....

Unsure why he's starting, would love to see Wilson / Falcaogreaves at the weekend...

They're Southapton and we are Manchester United. Their 'best players' were easily replaced from within and Holland. They just had to go like for like and had plenty of money to do so and had decent youth options there too.

We lost our 3 most experienced defenders, added 2 central midfielders and a left back that we have been crying for years. A young centre half, a forward on loan and a world class winger.

Liverpool spent £115 Million.

By rights that would also indicate we had a vast number of players at the club who were a lot, lot better than the players Soton started with as well, by adding £150m worth of talent on top you'd be surprised if you looked at any other top club in Europe & saw the same kind of league table - at this stage.

We're scoring as of this point... not how we'll be after Soton have played some big sides. Nor how hilariously inept Liverpool are now Suarez is gone & Sturridge has lost a leg.

We've done the bare minimum to this point, 4th is no great shakes. One loss & a few sides win around us & we're potentially 10th going into December.

We'll be fine, I just don't feel like it's been any quantum leap forward yet & 90% of that is the injuries. It will all come, but in the 2nd half of the season, all being well with the fitness angle.

Tbf Southampton have £#%&! all to do with how LVG is doing and how he has coped with overhauling the team/squad and dealing with the ridiculous amount of injuries.

Southampton, West Ham, Newcastle & Swansea are the teams around us, despite us being Manchester United & having spent £150m. It's an indicator of how well we have done in picking up points this year, a league table if you will.

We've not done anything amazing, that's all.

being 4th now isn't an achievement. being 4th then would hardly be something to crow about either tbh. 2nd would be an achievement. but he shouldn't be fired if we fail to make top 4, provided we are playing decent football, are settled at the back and there are signs of a plan. at this point, he's just about done enough and he's fortunate to be in a position to hold.

On top of Moyes putting everyone on a downer he had to contend with the captain and vice captain and 3/4 of a multiple league and CL winning back 4 £#%&!ing off in one go before he'd even begun. Late starting because of the WC, he had to make quick decisions. He's tinkered and still is tinkering re formations and personnel.

He's no Mourinho who basically guarantees success, but after that ship sailed and the abomination that was perpetrated thereafter, you have to be at the very least content.

United and Southampton in isolation

The big turning point of this season came over the weekend games.

Arsenal 1 United 2 (massive result for many reasons).
Villa 1 Soton 1

Next two games for both clubs should set things up nicely for our game at St Marys. I fully expect us to beat Southampton thus taking us above them in the league. You´ll see!
