Must be a few knowledgeable wine drinkers on here - Jack's on it. Let's have a suggestion or two marked out of 10 with a rough price and source.

Nero D'avola is usually very good regardless of the label; it's a full bodied red from Sicily. I've started buying wine by the case from an Internet wine merchant, usually spend a few quid on decent bottles and bulk it out with the cheaper stuff and offers.
