The Return of JC

Default Admit it! You were just plain WRONG!!

In the spirit of how the '07/08' thread is playing out, let's have some balls-out examples of being completely wrong about a team or player. Particularly thinking someone was going to be great who turned out to be shit.

I'll go first:

Back in 1998, I spent about an hour having a discussion with someone about how good Wes Brown would turn out to be compared to Rio Ferdinand.

Whoops!

Come on. Man up, y'all!

I thought John O'Shea was going to be one of our better players for the next 10 years after the 02/03 season.

Bit like Phil Jones.

Me too

He got MOM at Stamford Bridge early in the season we signed Rio. I wondered why we had bothered. As you can guess, I really didn't like Ferdinand!

slightly underwhelmed by the signings of Vidic and Evra at the time.

Obviously a reappraised very quickly once they started playing.

Thought Forlan would work out.

Apart from that I'm usually right about most people.

I thought that Berbatov playing dinked balls through to Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez would quite literally be the most amazing football anywhere since time began

Considering after his first season everyone's decided Phil Jones is utter gash, pretty unlike Phil Jones.

This. I'll never forget his Cryuff instep and shot against Newcastle. What happened to him.

I mean it's like Phil Jones because I thought he was good, but now think he may turn out to be shit for the next however many seasons.

Bit like John O'Shea

Reckon JC said "Wesleyyyyyy Brrrooowwwnnn" really slowly, Gary Barlow style. That took up a good 45 mins.
