Earn a new deal. After the Villarreal debacle thats what a serious club would do.

What was the rush? Not like we were in danger of losing him to other clubs.
Weren’t you using the fact he hadn’t signed a new deal as evidence the club didn’t believe in him?

Though of course "we" can be interpreted more than one way in this instance

If he doesn't go, he at least needs to change the backroom staff. Hire a proper number 2 with some tactical nous ala Quieroz.

There was the theory that Fergie wasn’t the best in the world tactically and benefited from the likes of Quieroz being a ‘big brain’.

And that worked because Fergie was amazing at man management and inspiring his teams.

His assistant only helped fill a couple of shallow gaps in his abilities.

If Ole had a brilliant assistant it would just be a case of the #2 raising the teams standards despite Ole.

Just replace Ole with a top class manager and let that guy bring in his own #2.

That would be to throw the baby out with the bath water.
Managing the club is a huge job coaching the players is a tiny part of it.
What if your new guy had the coaching but freaked out when he realised who would be picking his transfer targets?

Who is the top class manager available? I don't see any.

Immediately improving the coaching staff is more realistic and less disruptive.

Whatever suits his odd agenda presumably.

I don't disagree, but if he wins us something major in the interim that could be forgiven. Obviously no guarantee that he would, though.

I’d take conte tbh

Not sure we need him to build anything as Ole has done a good job at building a very good squad and with the introduction of fletch and that other fella above the manager we should have some good continuity going forward.

Don’t want Conte anywhere near the United manager role. Bloke is a #@&%!.

Ole stays until an outstanding candidate to replace him becomes apparent.

I wouldn't want Conte, he's a @#%&!. He'll throw his toys out the pram the minute things go wrong.

We shouldn’t be hiring anyone on the notion that they don’t need to build anything. If the last few years have proven anything, it’s that this job is very £#%&!ing difficult. There is always work to be done.

As Dunk says, there’s no point changing unless an outstanding candidate becomes available.

We’re invested in Ole and he isn’t going anywhere this season barring a disasterous run, which I don’t think we’ll see.
