Some of these defenders at the top clubs are a joke. Barely any of the top sides can defend well as they're used to so much of the game on the front foot.

Most of the old school defenders would be on a yellow five minutes in. Defenders now are expected to play out from the back or double up as wingers before they are judged on things like tackling and marking. Another negative side-effect of this relentless push to make possession the primary tactic in order to win matches.
