I said a couple of weeks ago that Shevchenko was looking a lot sharper and he was working a lot harder - it was only a matter of time before he started to make a greater impact in games.

He finally looks like he has adapted to Chelsea's style and, as much as I hate those blue @#%&!s, it's good to see a great player not completely tarnish his reputation.

His goal yesterday was world class - fantastic power and precision with very little backlift.

His turn, too, for Alex's goal was brilliant - though it was dreadful defending by Gareth Barry OBE.

As good as Sheva was yesterday, some of Villa's defending, especially for his second goal and Alex's, was desperately bad. He'd have got very little joy from Rio and Vidic playing just as well.

And 'rolling back the years,' isn't he 31?

They are all 31 or so - hardly "old greats" - unless you are 12

The likes of Maldini and Cafu are what would qualify as "old greats," not 31-yr-olds. If Sheva and Ballack had gone to (or remained at) clubs that suited them, they'd still be performing as well as ever every game.

I have even got a drawing off him that I bought in an art shop for £60.

Best player I have ever seen.
