I think the low fee of £15m is more to do with his contract expiring next summer.

He has been so poor that the German's just recalled him to their latest friendly match. He looks fairly trim to me in the pictures within the links posted by Saffers.

I seriously doubt LvG would waste his time bringing in a poor overweight player

I've been watching Dortmund, he's been poor by his standards. Non existent in some games.

I'm not saying he's overweight now but he was after his injury and it takes time to shift it.
