I was going to go straight from work and get the over ground from Canada Water. I assume that is no longer an option?

Or drive a £#%&!ing car down the M6, get on the M42, then the M40 and then get off at the M25. Drive on that all the way round to junction 7 and get the m23 into town towards croydon.
