Question So...as things stand right now, what is your starting XI (& subs) for the first day of the season?

I expect 1/2 more signings yet, but no harm in having a go now.

Seeing as it's Birmingham, I am expecting 2 strikers, no need for 3 central midfielders, the earliest i'd entertain that is against Arsenal.

...............................VDS

Wes.........Rio..........Vidic..........Evra

Valencia.....Carrick....Fletcher...Nani

..............Berbatov
............................Rooney

Subs:

Foster
O'Shea
Evans
Anderson
Giggs
Welbeck
Owen

Weak points for me being left wing, and I still think we need a central midfielder. I'd like to see Rooney playing in an advanced role(and staying there), and Berbatov creating. No need for Park due to opposition. Arguably, Anderson in for Fletcher, but I think at present Carrick and Fletcher are our best two and i'd like to see them actually play games together.

A quality left winger and central midfielder would improve the look of the side considerably IMO. Who they are though, £#%&! knows.

I'm not a fan of him in the slightest.

Like I said, it is an evident weak part.

Sorry.

Tosic?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know.

It'd likely be Anderson in a midfield 3 with Rooney on the left and Valencia on the right no?

I'd be quite disappointed if we played 3 in midfield against Birmingham city...at home. Especially considering our reduced goal threat.

Rooney, needs to be playing up front.

He impressed me at Old Trafford. Then he went on to do absolutely £#%&! all. Zero goals, and probably not too many assists

Depends how he fares in pre-season really. He still looked quite lightweight in the recent under 21s. I'd be surprised if he starts the first game.

I'd feel a bit more excited about the new season if we had Ljajic on the bench for the first game, I'm really looking forward to seeing him in the shirt

Didn't see much of him tbh but I don't think Serbia u21s actually scored in the tournament did they, so he can hardly have set it on fire as a winger.

There's only room for one Owen in this team.

Not Owen the cougar, no.

Owen the athlete, the ambassador, the icon
