See that Peter Hall is saying we are looking at Ward as Head of Recruitment, personally I would rather wait until a proper source like Romano/Ornstein says something

Amazing work from Big Murtough, so good at his job that it's taking two people to replace him.

Thought that - as savage as corporate can be.

Consequently, while United evaluated a number of external candidates, they regarded Murtough as the best option for the 'Football Director' role because of his already extensive knowledge of the club and his numerous success stories over the past eight years and he was considered to be a better option than the external candidates who were deemed inappropriate as they were only interested in recruitment.

He was brought to United by David Moyes in 2013, having previously worked for the Premier League. Regularly described as a 'fixer', Murtough was charged with improving the academy. He excelled in that regard, playing a pivotal role in a change of policy which saw United adopt a more expansive, global approach to player recruitment, resulting in the arrival of the likes of Hannibal Mejbri and Alvaro Fernandez.

so long, fixer
For this read "decided that Utds very successful regional development centre programme that had delivered players into the first team on a yearly basis was too antiquated, so decided to close them and buy kids in from all over Europe. Then Brexit happened..."

£#%&!ing arsebag. Needs to take Harrison and Cox with him the £#%&!ing chancers.

I'm glad he's left the club, He was out of his depth as a director of football.
