He played today.

It’s a catch 22 situation because we desperately need him to come in a do very well but the burden then becomes an issue and we’ve got to remember he’s young and will take time to adapt. Shit situation for him tbh unless he just comes straight in and smashes it:

He was at least one good thing about today, let's just wait until United have done their usual thing with him though.

He elevates us simply with the physical attributes and style. He barely touched the ball today, but he bothered the defenders, allowed us to win some second balls and was in where it hurts on a few counter attacks.

There was that counter where he needed to slow his run and didnt - that’s an example of he’ll need work, but were instantly better for simply having him on the pitch. He seemed to give everyone a lift. Like Garnacho does. There was an intensity there that was infectious.

Get Amrabat/Mainoo behind him and Garnacho off him

The kid is going to be a beast. Saliba had no idea what to do with him, Gabriel £#%&!ed off as soon as he could. That touch for Nashers goal was temendous and smart

The difference in having a CF who can actually hold up and be a bit physical.

Heck it’s probably the difference in just having a striker (neither martial or rashford is)

Decent cameo, esp considering the shite he had to work behind him. Nice little back heel too for the garnacho offside

Nice to watch a player in our shirt provide some sort of physicality.

It was a lovely goal. Such a shame. He looks just off, but I hate those lines.

It was actually funny seeing how much of a difference he made immediately compared to Martial by just being able to pin back and bully Gabriel

Forget about the goals, he’ll make such a difference to this team by being a reference point up front

Exactly. His physical attitudes and work rate will immediately compensate for any settling in.

Look at these clips. He’s not doing anything amazing, but he’s a bloody handful. Twice he pins Gabriel and plays it off to Bruno, who quickly releases to Rashford. That’s an option we just don’t have. And he can run in behind too, as he demonstrates on the penalty appeal.

literally just by running around and, you know, trying he's proved himself a massive upgrade on the inanimate carbon rod we currently play up front

Nice little cameo.

It was great to see him backing into defenders and giving them a hard time. We're too nice up front and it's about time we rough up defenders a bit.

Despite his size, Weghorst wasn't great at holding it up or even winning long balls. Hoijland did that well today.

He looks rusty and maybe a bit raw, but it was very encouraging.

Was very impressed. Think part of that is probs down to the ptsd I have from seeing martial being pushed around by defenders who are the physical equivalent of Kenneth Williams and then see him pad around trying to not sweat at all.

But having someone physically having a go. Wanting to actually play football. £#%&! me, it’s a joy.

Thank god he's sorted his hair out.

Bit of gel. Hairdryer. Don't style it like to look like a #@&%!.

It's not difficult.

Deceptively rapid. He's going to win a lot of free kicks.

Strong lad too.

Should have had a pen imo and I noticed it was the same bloke that brought him down that played Garnacho on and had hold of Evans for their second goal.

Not sure about deceptively, he's probably amongst the quickest in Europe

Well, he'll get fouled a lot. Whether that translates to free kicks remains to be seen.

He's a properly rapid brute.

You could see that from the run in behind for the penalty.

He’s fast, strong and attacks that six yard box. That brings us so much. We can afford him to be a little raw for his attributes alone.
