Said this last night but it's worth repeating:

They can't get "up" for anything that doesn't involve us. Even the comments on that telegraph article quickly descend into a load of bitch comments about United, even though the story itself has absolutely nothing to do with us.

Nothing club.
Odgen has been losing the plot recently.

They're quite unique for the CL, really.

Even a Monaco, PSG or Chelsea actually had some involvement in the competition before they won the lottery. The likes of BATE Borisov etc have had ambitions to play at that level. City have an entire fanbase who have no connection with the game at this level. That must be part of it. As shit as their fans may be, there's still something weird about last night. Monaco have a better atmosphere.

As Sparky suggests, their world has revolved around United for too long.

Malaga are the only team I can think of with similar connection.

Yeah, I considered them. Didn't even sell out when they reached the CL if I remember right.

Same manager, too

Tottenham hadn’t played in the European Cup since 1962, but WHL produced a great atmosphere in games against the likes of Inter (reigning Champions), Milan and Real Madrid.

City are just a shit club who know that they don’t really belong in the top tier of European football.

yep. personality wise, they're a mickey mouse club.

that will probably change over the next 10 years when they start attracting ooter support.

Which would be ironic.

Indeed, like many of the smaller clubs in the competition it was new to them. But they had designs on it. They were always floating around the European places and had long hoped of reaching that level.

City were still happy to be staying up a few years ago. As you say, they know deep down they have no business being there.

It'll change as they get used to the competition. Even their 20-something fans probably don't feel right in the CL.

That said, I think they are in line for struggles in the next few years. With FFP putting the squeeze on, they haven't been smart like Chelsea, who for years now have invested in younger players, both for their own development or for sale, with Mata, Luiz, Lukaku etc.

With the exception of Aguero, City's best half dozen players are all 28+ and when Pellegrini arrived he brought more of the same with him. It's a squad that will need major rebuilding in the next two or three years, without financial doping.

exactly. They'll just create a club out of thin air and sell players to it.

Nah, FFP has got them sussed from all those angles.

It's why Chelsea were smart to realise what was coming. City always throught there'd be loopholes.

And brought in quite old back-ups. Getting Sagna (31) and Caballero (33) in on long contracts as cover

Guys like Clichy and Negredo on long-term deals.

They really need Jovetic and Managala to be big players for them.

probs right, but can't they cancel yaya's contract and then loan him back? Milners their best player - can.t they sell him for £40m to the US and loan him back?

failing all that they'll just flood the 1st team with their elite squad players

The money brought in wouldn't count towards FFP.

It's the same as them thinking they could subsidise their own sponsorship deals.

FFP has basically written all this into the rules and said nah
