As I understand it, one possible punishment would be to kick them out of the PL.

If that happens, then they'd have to apply to be let into the Football League. Would they allow them in? And at what level? I suspect every club in the FL would object to them just dropping into their league. So where would they go? Where could they go?

European Super League. Backed by the oil money. That'll be their threat to the PL.

No other Champions League club would play ball with that plan imo. Maybe Chelsea can join them. Can't have a super League on their own.

I’m as keen as anyone to see them punished but forcing them to play in Scotland is too far, imo.

If they're demoted for one season, none of their players or manager will jump ship. But 4 years out of the champions league and Premier League? Like rats out of an aqueduct.

It has to be a severe punishment and I don't see how they keep the titles they've won whilst totally skewing the rules. If the rules had been adhered to, they just wouldn't be anything like they are now. The PL have to get this right.

Everton can (and will) appeal to the PL, but it's only the PL they can appeal to. So the PL should grow some %@#$&!s, no?

This. Every trophy won since 2008.

We're owed a few of them.

Correct. Every player over 26 would leave, they're not hanging around for the money in Manchester when they can get even more in Saudi if they're truly a mercenary.

Agreed. No club, no matter what the crime, not even Fred West FC should have to suffer Scotland

Didn’t Pep say he would leave if they were found to have cheated? - Obvs that all said with that puppy dog eyed earnestness whilst he creams multiple wages as a consultant to other city companies.

We’ll see - take your stone island jumper and your Parkinson diseased inspired adhd team talks and £#%&! off.

Apparently FFP rules are stricter in the EFL , so i do not see how they could pay the same wages as present in the championship.

It’s about the future of the competition - I’m amazed that they can actually see it. (I’m still not convinced they will)

And I’m a bit surprised you can also given that the ME MO is to financially cheat their way to success…

They should have everything stripped off them post 2008. All of it. And be relegated to the Conference, and forced to select their squad from 15 years ago and replay every match.

I’d accept an asterisk against everything won the last 12 years and a transfer ban until Guardiola walks out onto the Old Trafford centre circle, bends over and kisses his own arse before apologising for 7 years of deceit.

What about city owning Girona too? They are top of La liga atm. How dodgy is this:

Quote:
Girona Futbol Club, S.A.D. is a Spanish professional football club based in Girona, Catalonia, Spain. Founded on 23 July 1930, the team plays in La Liga, to which they gained promotion in the 2022 Segunda División play-offs.
Quote:
On 23 August 2017, it was announced City Football Group (CFG), a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi United Group, had purchased 44.3% ownership in Girona. Another 44.3% was held by Girona Football Group, led by Pere Guardiola, the brother of CFG-owned Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.[14] On 29 October 2017, Girona recorded a memorable victory, defeating reigning European Cup winners Real Madrid 2–1.[15][16]
