The one who couldn't hack it in the world cup in 98 when it actually mattered and it was all dependent on him? (see also messi)

But when he scored a hat trick against us he was backed by the hoards of galacticos the Spanish government sponsored and loads of Muppets stood and applauded him?

Yeah that fat Ronaldo

Shame it didn't matter in '02 when he was top scorer including a brace in the final, must hurt.

Agree with that.

Zola is a shout, compared to Maradona I recall in one paper when he retired :

Coutinho
Pique
Sneijder

Played one full season as the most advanced of a three/ second striker (2002/2003) tand scored exactly 20 goals without a set piece goal amongst them if I remember correctly.

Absolutely sensational passer short AND long.

Still underrated if anything.

Seen Ronaldo (OG) at Old trafford once, he scored a hat-trick and walked off to a standing ovation.. seen Messi twice.. barely in both games.

Arguably the greatest striker in football history, and if not, most certainly in the top 5.

And some say he's overrated?

Ronaldo 1996-1998 is the best centre forward in the last 40 years.

After doing his knees a couple of times post 1999 yeah i think he was overrated. Still a good goalscorer but no way near the phenom he was before
