Default ryan giggs - why didnt he shoot?

now that the game is over id like to put it to the forum.

do you think he didnt see the opening or he chickened out of it.

personally i think he chickened out of it but then looking at the reply he had his head down the whole time.

loved rooneys running celebration though.

Experience.

Better to keep the ball for as long as possible.

That, and I'm not sure he can kick it that far anymore.

The follow through from the shot would tear his hamstring.

come dunk are trying to wind me up.

an open goal, he is around the half way line and remember when he had the ball the keeper was no where near the goal.
he chickened in.

I think he thought a pass or two and they could walk it in. Give some credit to Hart, lots of keepers in that situation make a token effort to get back to their line.

He can't kick it that far, in fact, it wasn't really the best position for a left hooker to shoot from, on the other side curling towards goal, yeah, but not there.

He could've put his foot down and ran the £#%&!er in though, or given it Wayne earlier.

I didn't think Rooney was going to shoot at first.

He's £#%&!ing quick for a fat £#%&!er though, tbf. I don't think Giggsy really tried to outsprint him when he went through, Dunne had a bit of a start and the angle favoured him, Giggs was more interested in maintaining his position, IMO, he was put on to do a job.

Again, Rio and Rooney on that side, fair enough, right footers, it would sit nice, Giggs would've had to take back out away from the goal, towards the left, to set himself and it would've been swinging away from the goal. Rooney took one touch, inside, and was able to shape it in towards goal.

i know what you mean regarding the angle but surely giggs could have chipped it in. beckham famous goal came from a same sort of position on the opposite flank.

Maybe, it was a tough one to take and Rooney was in a better position to do it. I think he would have had a pop if he had been on his own, he's not scared of doing it, remember him hitting the bar from the opposite side at Charlton?

He wasn't chickening out ffs.

He was running on to the ball; it'd be almost impossible to get the level of accuracy, height and power required when you are running straight on to a moving ball.

Beckham's goal was pretty much from a standing position, similar to Rooney's attempt.

And Giggs is hardly known for his long distance passing/shooting.

judging by some of his crosses not beating the first man you're probably right, he did the correct thing in passing it to Wayne.
