That was it. Celebrating the fact that our financial position will be our downfall and that is good for the game.

The anti-Glazer campaign, at first sinister, and then becalmed by success, has gathered fresh momentum around the green and yellow protests that were such a part of the occasion last night.

Instantly, the symbolic gesture of wearing the colours of Newton Heath - the genesis of Manchester United and a time when the club were most truly in touch with their common roots - has grown more powerful than any number of ugly chants.

It is a visible protest, peaceful and yet striking as thousands eschew the red and white. What makes it so affecting is the cross section of individuals out in support.

Not just mouthy teenagers or the menacing types in balaclavas that made up the most extreme of the original protest groups.

Here were middle-aged man, sons and fathers, regular fans not given to public displays of anger. It resembled football's equivalent of the march against the Iraq war, when women's institute members from the Cotswolds stood on the streets of London alongside the remnants of the Socialist Workers Party.

Has anyone noticed how sports "journalists", even the ones you used to read in the broadsheets and respect, are now absolutely £#%&!ing obsessed with bookmaker odds? None of them can go a couple of sentences without mentioning it.

Does me head in. Just makes everything so tawdry.

Anyone would think that the adverts for bookmakers in the papers that pay their wages would have something to do with it, but that wouldn't be right would it

He's a west ham fan and he has said that United fans must be mad moaning about the Glazers considering all the success we've had under them.

I was - bizarrely - offered the chance (challenged) to ring him and press him on his Glazer claims, after criticizing the interviewer (a red) for letting him off lightly.

Football journos are a funny breed.

I don't rise to bait, it means you've lost.

Plus I wanted to belittle the profession and the idea that I'd ever want to take time out to talk to someone about football. and not get paid.

Or that gambling odds have any bearing on reality whatsoever.
