That Liverpool game was the best game ever. Ever. Ever. So they tell us anyway.

Course if Newcastle had have scored that 4th goal it wouldn't.

Why the £#%&! are those rancid scumbags the media darlings? I even read of shitbags like Johnny Giles and others saying it would be good for football if they won the league. Get the £#%&!.

My memory is shit. It was the following year. They lost 1-0 to Panathinaikos at home, but won the away leg 3-0.

Yeah. They said lightening never strikes twice but it did. According to the media. I dont know why the games where held in such esteem. If you ask me, it was a game filled with shit defending. Give me a tactical, well earned 1-0 any day of the weak.

There were quite a few decent sides in the 90s.

Milan at the start, then Ajax and then Juventus.

I don't think this decade has come near to producing a team like them.

Milan reached 3 finals on the bounce, Ajax 2 (before the team started to be sold off)

Juventus reached 3 consecutive finals.

I suppose you could make the argument that more teams are now in the competition, but I think those sides would still do very well in today's format.

The Barca side that Rijkaard assembled could (briefly) have matched any of them. Some utterly stunning performances - I'll never forget that 5-0 against Panathinaikos - shame they went and fell apart.

Don't forget Red Star Belgrade! Fabulous team in the early 90s.

There are very few outstanding players or teams in football today. The variation in styles of football across different countries has also lessoned substantially, which is a great shame.

I saw them demolish Real Betis 5-1 at the Camp Nou, three days before they travelled to Stamford Bridge and beat Chelsea 2-1. Phenomenal team. Some of the interplay between Eto'o, Ronaldinho and Messi was unreal.

Amazing to think just 12 months later, the same team would be held at home 1-1 by the same opposition, helping gift the title to a poor Real Madrid.
