I don’t think one can read too much into it. He wasn’t likely to say, “yeah, Erik’s great, definitely here next year” and remove any incentive from anyone to achieve top four. Similarly, he wasn’t going to say “I’ve had a word with Marlo, we think Haggers might be a racist, he always plays his favourites and what he did with Jadon wasn’t cool, so we kicking his baldy ass out at the end of the season” as it might also remove any incentive from everyone to achieve top four. Does he want to improve the home of Manchester United, or does he want to build a new place for England to play occasionally and host a big final every decade or so?
Don't think I've heard anyone other than Ratcliffe championing the idea of a 'Wembley of the North'. Would be funny as £#%&! seeing the ABU outrage if taxpayers footed the bill for a new stadium though. |

I would say the former but he's framing it as the latter to get someone else to pay for it. I doubt he gives a £#%&! about a Wembley of the North.

His Wembley of the north stuff is also just a reference to the power of United in terms of driving improvements in greater Manchester. Bernstein (massive blue and former CEO of the Council and recognised as probably the best council CEO evoh) for years said that United was Manchester’s best export and investment driver but the club always resisted any form of engagement - even before the Glazers. Think Jim is saying he’s happy that United become a driver locally which is long long overdue imo. |

I’m probably as happy as Larry, Larry
All I’m saying is that if you read an article about a multi millionaire who; Approached the then chancellor of the exchequer to lobby him to introduce laws banning trade union members from striking, was a strong supporter of brexit, and left the UK to reside in a tax haven…….I would be fairly certain most on this forum would label him as a right bastard The fact he’s now involved with united shouldn’t change this |
