As poor as the last three weeks has been, the fact is that we will be anywhere from 6-9 points better this term than we were last year, whereas all of the others (with the exception of City obviously) have been worse. That's not a trend that suggests 4th.

Yep. Arsenal, Chelsea, and Spurs are a mile behind us, shit as we are.

This Chelsea revival under Di Matteo, by cozying up to Lampard, Terry, and Drogba, is just made for Cup runs. They still need a major overhaul to be competitive in a long league campaign.

I think we'll drop a place in the league unless we address the central midfield.

FA Cup, well its draw dependant isnt it but we probably wont win it.

League Cup, as above.

Champions League - Quarters.

I think its going to be pretty meh and Im not one for being big on the doom either.

It depends on the Glazers.

I thought their financial plan accounted for a top 4 finish, QF in the CL and a couple of rounds of domestic cup action. They could achieve all that with little or no investment this summer

I'm hoping someone from Liverpool will die and next season will be called off.

Would agree with that. Anyone would think we finished mid table this year
For all City have spent they aren't much better than us this year, the league and performances in europe are proof of this.

2nd/3rd place.

1st KO rnd/quaters CL.

£#%&! the domestic cups.

generally more of the same at best, but we won't amass same point total. Max 79 pts imo.

If Utd don't strengthen and Chelsea and City do, 3rd place. Out of the CL in the second round and non-existent in the FA & Carling Cups.

We will be better equipped than this season which has been pretty remarkable for chucking shit at us

Injuries: Vidic, Cleverly, Anderson, lots of other normal injuries.

Illness: Fletcher (when was the last time anyone lost a player for the season through illness)

So 4 players who at the start would have been expected to play major roles hardly featured.

Berbatov: When has the previous top scorer ever fallen into such disfavour and not been sold. Utterly bizarre.

Add in a new goalkeeper settling in and having to get Scholes back.

all been a bit

what we've lacked is stability.

Some good old doom....

In total, United's net spend over the past five years amounts to £51.6m. Which is considerably below the £25m per season the Glazers once promised. City's total is £418.9m, Chelsea £155.9m, Liverpool's £83.3m and Tottenham's £66.7m. Perhaps most surprisingly, Sunderland have also spent more than United, with £69.2m, as have Aston Villa on £68.4m. And who would have thought that Stoke, on £59.7m, would be more prolific spenders than England's best-supported club?
