It’s usually the signings that are seen as slightly underwhelming and not exciting that prove the most successful in the long run
The transfers with a lot of hype and excitement around them often crash and burn

Think this time next year we’ll view the Mount signing as a surprisingly excellent addition to the first 11

We had 3 needs this summer for our first 11
Sign a modern keeper who suits how ETH wants to play, sign a young energetic attacking midfielder to replace Eriksen and sign a high quality centre forward

We’ve sorted one of those needs and it looks like the keeper will be resolved in the next week or so
Centre forward was always going to be the most difficult one so not surprised they are leaving it to last

Didn’t want him, hope he proves me wrong, ETH wants him so faith must go to the manager, hopefully he can hit the ground running with good form. Might just be a surprise package

Maybe garnacho can stop making “7” cakes now

Actually quite appalled that we’ve given this bloke the number 7 tbh. Underlines the current ambition levels.

It's £#%&!ing shocking.

The @#%&! will be with us for the next half a decade at least, too, given his age and salary.

You'd have thought someone at the club would have had the sense to sort this. Garnacho would have been a far better choice for the #7.

Giving him the number 7 shirt means he is our 'marquee' signing...

I think it's a shrewd move tbh

He is proper loved up with tenners and is chomping at the bit

Shame we don't have enough cash available to fill all the gaps in the squad, but we getting there

Funny feeling he is going to be playing in the number 10 role with Bruno being moved back to midfield alongside Casemiro. Bruno played there at times last season - I think mainly when Weghorst (sp?) played as no.10 ().

Where else can Mount play? Can't see him dislodging Rashford or Garnacho from the left wing. He is not an actual midfielder, no matter what people say so I don't think we'll be seeing him alongside Casemiro. If being energetic were enough to be a success in that position, we wouldn't be selling Fred.

Suppose we might change formation to 4-3-3 with himself and Bruno as advanced "midfielders." Hope not, tbh. Always happier when we have someone in the Cantona position.
